The daily Tulsi puja method: offering water, lamp, circumambulation, mantras and rules, and when not to pluck tulsi leaves.

Puja method (step by step)

Bath and purity
Bathe and wear clean clothes.

Offer water
Offer water to the tulsi. Traditions differ about giving water on Sundays and Ekadashi; follow your family’s custom.

Tilak and flowers
Offer roli, akshat and flowers.

Lamp
In the evening, light a ghee lamp near the tulsi.

Circumambulation and prayer
Circumambulate three or seven times and say the prayer.

- Do not pluck leaves on Sunday and Ekadashi (tradition)
- Do not pluck leaves at night (tradition)
- Do not touch with impure hands
- Do not keep dirt around the tulsi
Common mistakes
- Throwing away the plant when it dries; immerse it in flowing water with faith
- Plucking leaves with the nails; pluck gently by hand
Auspicious muhurat
No special muhurat for daily puja. Check the panchang for the date of Tulsi Vivah after the month of Kartik and Dev Uthani Ekadashi.

Yes, it is offered to Vishnu and Krishna. It is not offered to Ganesha.
