3

Lamp and achaman

ॐ केशवाय नमः। ॐ नारायणाय नमः। ॐ माधवाय नमः।
4

Sankalp (resolve)

Holding water, rice grains (akshat) and a flower in your hand, say silently your name, gotra (if known) and the purpose of the puja, then pour the water on the ground. A resolve in simple language is also valid.

5

Ganesh vandana

Remembering Ganesha before any puja is considered auspicious in tradition.

वक्रतुंड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ। निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा॥
6

Install Ram Darbar

Place the Ram Darbar picture on the seat and decorate it.

ॐ रां रामाय नमः॥
8

Flowers, tulsi and bhog

Offer flowers, tulsi leaves, panjiri and kheer as bhog.

9

Recite the Bal Kanda of the Ramcharitmanas (the birth of Ram) or the Ram Raksha Stotra. If that is not possible, chant the name of Ram.

श्री राम जय राम जय जय राम॥
10

Birth celebration

At midday celebrate the birth with conch, bell and cheers.

11

Aarti

Perform aarti with a ghee lamp. Let all family members stand together, and take the aarti at the end.

12

Prayer for forgiveness

Ask humbly for forgiveness for any mistake made during the puja.

आवाहनं न जानामि न जानामि विसर्जनम्। पूजां चैव न जानामि क्षमस्व परमेश्वर॥
13

Prasad and closing

Share the prasad with everyone and take some yourself. Take the blessings of elders. Immerse flowers and other puja materials in flowing water or under a tree, rather than throwing them in the trash.
