Traditional story (retold)

Part 1: Madhusudan and Sangeeta

The katha is that a man named Madhusudan was married to Sangeeta. He went to his in-laws' house and set out, taking his wife with him after the farewell.

Part 2: The Fault of Wednesday

On the way the wife felt thirsty. The husband went to fetch water, and when he came back he saw a man exactly like his wife's husband sitting there. A dispute arose between the two.

Part 3: Budh Dev's Grace

The dispute went before the king. Madhusudan remembered Budh Dev and kept the Wednesday vrat. The Lord revealed the truth and husband and wife were united again. From that time the tradition of the Wednesday vrat is held.

Thus ends the complete Budhwar Vrat Katha
